Catalyst in Exhaust System

Wednesday, February 18, 2009
A catalyst to degrade quickly is difficult because, except for some blow, and if using the fuel and oil level duration is in the order of 80,000 to 100,000 km, sometimes more. The catalyst in the exhaust system is responsible for converting gas engine components that are toxic gases that are compatible with nature and with life. Unfortunately, and largely because of the havoc caused by adulterated fuel, there is a psychosis that this piece is to be taken out because they "pop" and that even when in good condition if you take out the car is faster, that's nonsense. The only benefit is that the operation makes it out and charged for it. Do not let it taken out.

Exhaust System
There is a component which is located above the catalyst to what is known as "Lambda Probe." What is the famous Lambda probe? It is a probe that analyzes the exhaust gases exit the engine and tells the computer as they are composed. Based on the composition of gases, the computer makes decisions and sets the amount of fuel injected; trying to remain in the optimal ratio (14.6 to 1), since that is the proportion of air and fuel that allows the catalyst to remove the most toxic components.
